I always become sad when I see a post on a forum from a newbie asking “why is my blog not showing in Google?” Only to find out that their blog is not targeting any keyword.
Another popular question is; “I’ve been blogging for 5 months but I’m not getting any traffic…”
You can’t blame the poor newbie because they joined some program that told them blog about anything, everyday.

What is anything? Will anything increase my blog traffic or bring me leads? Who’s searching for anything?

Even if some of your posts rank high, soon they will go down because people will be hitting the browser back button like crazy. But if your blog is niched and targeting a specific market. Then when people visit your blog they’ll find what they want, share it (if it’s good) and browse your site for more info. This will decrease your bounce rate and your website rankings will stick.

What you need to do is find what problems people are searching for then offer them a solution.

Let me show you how to find evergreen markets and how to do proper research to find keywords that will increase traffic to your blog.

Maybe you’ve done keyword research before and still not ranking for any of the keywords you’re targeting, I’m going to show you where people get it all wrong. After reading this blog post you’re going to get keywords that will rank in search engines even if you don’t have a lot of knowledge about On-Page & Off-Page SEO.

Let me show you how to do proper keyword research using a tool that a lot of marketers are not using – your brain. Keyword tools do work and they’re a good starting point but never rely on them to find untapped keywords because everyone is using them. For instance, if you type in “Music” in any keyword tool. You’ll find keywords such as:

  • New Music
  • Youtube Music
  • Music Videos
  • etc…

Those are good but they are already tapped, everyone who has used any keyword tool has definitely found those and they have competition. Let me show you a few keywords that people are searching for, that any tool will never find when you type in the word “music”:

  • Popular Bands
  • Instrument designs
  • Music Scores & sheets
  • The slang words people use in the niche such as Track, Tune, Fret etc…

Try the internet marketing niche for example. The tools wont give you the names of popular products or course names with file extension (PDF).
The truth is, these tools will give you niches that are tapped and you’ll need a big budget to get traffic to your blog using those keywords. Let me show you a simple example of how you find a niche that is untapped using the word “music.”

Now that’s how you find a good keyword that will increase your blog traffic. I wouldn’t advise you to go for this keyword because it’s not evergreen but it’s a good example and it has helped most of my students come up with ideas for their niches coz most people know Jay Z.
When using the keyword tools for your research make sure you include slang words, file extensions (PDF, Video, mp3), popular people’s names, products and services.

If you are in the TV Shows niche then going to any tool and typing “Best TV Shows” will be a waist of time, someone has already done that and might have taken that niche. So instead, you use Google search to find out which are the best TV Shows then type those in the the keyword tool and be prepared to faint because you’ll find something that 95% of marketers are missing.
Here’s are a few ideas you can use to get started with finding good keywords in different niches:

  • The names of certain drugs or pills
  • Long complicated infections or disease names
  • The names of business coaches
  • Dating products with file extensions
  • The parts of a computer
  • Names of different types of hardware components
  • Specific workout programs
  • Brands or groups within a niche
  • Niches with HUGE sub niches (Video Games)

Another way to see if a keyword is untapped or not, just go to and type in the keyword and if the .com is still available or there’s no exact match domain then that might mean it’s still a good keyword to go for.

Go ahead and try this guys, you’ll see that a lot of people are relying on what is no longer working. These tools used to work a while back but now, the internet is saturated and most keywords are really competitive.
